OLIVIER BORDE SPRING/SUMMER '11

First Balmain goes Americana and now Olivier Borde is also going all stripes and stars on us. He was influenced by '60's America, predominantly by "home videos of his mother, and you can see how her style evolved through the decade". I like the men's collection; it almost looks Beach Boy-esque, Americana preppy look with a nice mix of tan chino's, denim, pastel blue and black. If you squint your eyes it is similar to the Acne aesthetic, but for the masses. Olivier Borde's attitude to marketing is a bit like Band of Outsider's; L'aissez Affaire approach. I do enjoy the big '60's hair as well, resonates well with the collection. All the pieces are simple, functional, and to complete the hat-trick they are quite stylish. The model is easy on the eyes too. It's a win, win situation I guess.
