CLASSIXX - COLD ACT ILL

SO 80'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beast of a track perfect for summer. Enjoy.

VIKTOR & ROLF X LA ROUX

We all know La Roux as the androgynous pop songstress behind "In For The Kill" etc, etc, but recently she has been unveiled as the muse for fashion house Viktor & Rolf. I can see why though as her style is eclectic, 80's punk, new romantic and occaisionally Disco-glam, but at the end of the day it is all a bit masculine isnt it? She perfomed at Viktor & Rolf's Paris Menswear Spring/Summer 2011 show looking rather dashing and suitably attired in the designer's sharp new cuts. La Roux was quoted,"Fashion and music have always gone hand-in-hand and this was an opportunity to do something different with the songs and in a completely different setting. "It was very intimate and very exposed. There was a real sense of two creative worlds coming together."
I have always liked Viktor & Rolf and this isnt their best collection but I can see the concept behind this line. I dont dislike it, some pieces are practical and wearable and the cuts are spot on but I think are there many men who would say they would like to dress like La Roux?

WIRELESS FESTIVAL 2010

I went last year when Kanye West was headlining and it was immense beyond words. Jay-Z headlining this year and it is my first time seeing him, but he is the undisputed king of hip hop and I expect his show to be equally as good as Mr. West's, maybe even better. Pretty lucky as I only got a last minute ticket, but this is going to be nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuts. Taking my SLR with me too to capture the unfathomable awesomeness. If you arent going are you jealous much?

CANON AE1

I FINALLY GOT MY VINTAGE SLR!!! After weeks of desperate searching I finally got my phalanges on this beautiful 1980's Canon AE1 SLR. I am taking it to Wireless Festival on Sunday with me and hopefully I should return with some beautiful images to post up.

BAND OF OUTSIDERS 2010 LOOKBOOK

Contemporary brand Band of Outsiders present their summer look book filled with practical and vintage pieces are easy on the eye. They havent tried to break the mould or create sensational pieces in an attempt to radicalise the world of fashion as we know it, instead they've done their homework and emerged with a nautical themed collection that includes smart chino trousers, double breasted blazers and boat shoes. The pieces arent too heavy for the season and contain a mix of lightweight knits and pastel coloured cottons. I like the non-chalant marketing attitude they adopt, their website says "we sell clothes and other stuff", and their lookbook was shot with a polaroid camera.

LUTHER VANDROSS - "NEVER TOO MUCH" (ODAHL REMIX)

This is a beast of a song. If it doesnt cause you to gyrate or shake your derrier then please seek medical advice.

WANG PRE FALL 2010

Wang returns with a very monochromatic pre fall collection that contains very clean and sharp cotton, leather and knit design cuts. Aesthetically and practically the pieces are pefect for pre fall because they arent too heavy and just about light enough for the season. Thumbs up Wang.

THE VADER PROJECT

"This summer, The Vader Project launches the final chapter of its four-year run. The collection features 100 Darth Vader Helmets re-imagined by today’s artists. The Vader Project returns to Los Angeles in June for a special ten-day exhibition in Hollywood as a preview to the upcoming Freeman’s Auction in Philadelphia."

GOLD COAST TRADING CO. SPRING/SUMMER 2010

Gold Coast Trading Co. release their spring/summer collection inspired by west African culture and stressing the importance of heritage, roots and not forgetting where you come from. Some of the pieces are functional if you co-ordinate them well and know how to work the look. My favourite piece is the sleeveless denim jacket. If I could sum up the collection I think it could be described as afro-bohemia.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN FALL/WINTER 2010

I have to admit I would genuinely wear these, with a nice pair of washed out pair of skinny jeans, a vintage white t-shirt, ray ban wayfarers and a trilby. Casual chic.

"MIDNIGHT WALK" - BARRETSO

This song is literally on a loop. Cannot seem to get enough of it. I like to think of it in the context that if Daft Punk and Justice had an illegitamate love child then Barretso would be the resulting spawn. Pornography for your ears.

VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPHY

I seem to have developed a penchant for vintage cameras and here are two that I hope to get my phalanges on by the end of the week. Do you see cameras like this anymore? Just look at them! I just want to take a whole day shooting everything and anything with such amazing cameras.

NABIL ELDERKIN (PHOTOGRAPHY)

Nabil Elderkin, a native of Australia, began his photography shooting portraits of surfers in his hometown. What began non chalantly as a hobby developed into a passionate career. From surfer portraits, Nabil's work blossomed and he began shooting action sports and musicians and in 1999 he moved to Chicago to continue and expand his career. He was soon picked up by Oxfam to do an editorial on the poverty in war torn Democratic Republic of Congo. He managed to capture their everyday struggles, joy, sadness and resilience despite everything they had endured. I found the pictures extremely powerful and emotive, such was their quality. Elderkin also directs music videos, most notably for Kanye West and Will.I.am . Today, Nabil lives and works in Los Angeles at his studio in Downtown. He shoots hip hop artists, fashion lifestyle and musicians.
