NOM de GUERRE - "Combat Continues" Spring/Summer 2010

Nom de Guerre returns with a collection that aims to make a point by creating a collection heavily inspired by the French occupation of Algeria and the resulting conflict. I love the concept of juxtapositioning regimental and uniformal military aspects, and then making it casual so it can be worn by civillians. The designers at Nom de Guerre have obviously put a lot of thought into their designs as they claim to be additionally inspired by the montages in French New Wave cinema. Most of the pieces are functional and I especially love the attention to detail on the epaulets. The pieces might be a tad heavy for spring/summer but this is counteracted by choice of light wools, cotton shirts and a cool colour palette.
